Ken Wampler Awarded 2018 Chairman Award for Volunteer Service by the Destin Area Chamber

DESTIN, Fla.—Ken Wampler, president of Newman-Dailey Resort Properties, was awarded the 2018 James D. Neilson Sr. Chairman’s Award for Volunteer Service by the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce at their 2018 Holiday Party and Awards Gala held at the Embassy Suites in Miramar Beach. The award was presented by the outgoing Destin Chamber Chairman Bob Perry of Destin Commons and the Destin Chamber CEO Shane Moody in honor of Wampler’s unwavering commitment and volunteer hours in advocating for Destin’s business community. 

“Ken has done so much to further the mission of the chamber.  He steps up and volunteers when we need it, sometimes, even ‘on the spot’,” said Shane Moody, president and CEO of the Destin Area Chamber. “His work in the community on behalf of the chamber is a big reason he won this award. When you look for volunteers who promote the advancement of the business community, Ken is the perfect example.” 

Wampler has served many roles for the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce over the years, including Chairman of the Board. In fulfilling his current board position as Vice Chairman, Communications and Marketing, he has been extremely active attending most Destin Chamber of Commerce meetings as well as Destin City Council meetings, advocating on issues that affect businesses in and around Destin. Wampler also serves on the Board of Directors for the Okaloosa Tourist Development Council and actively supports the successful balance of a strong tourism industry and a thriving local economy along with an improved quality of life for area residents.  

The James D. Neilson Chairman’s Award for Volunteer Service is awarded to an individual who has gone above and beyond in service to the Destin Chamber.  The winner is determined by the Chairman of the Board and President and CEO of the Chamber, after input from chamber staff.   
“If you’ve attended any of this year’s events, you have probably come face-to-face with our winner.  But his efforts go well beyond that,” said Bob Perry, outgoing chairman of the Chamber Board of Directors. “His presence is felt at numerous community meetings, be it city council, city committees, the Okaloosa TDC, or task forces addressing specific issues.  He seems to always say ‘yes’ when asked to step up, even as a last-second emcee at a chamber event, and he’s never shy about speaking to support the right things.  It is with great privilege that I awarded the 2018 James D. Neilson, Sr., Chairman’s Award for Volunteer Service to Ken Wampler.”
