When Packing for Your Beach Getaway Consider Fall Weather in Destin, Florida

One of the most frequently asked questions by guests planning to visit Destin in November and December is “What’s the Weather Like that time of Year?” While it’s a good question, and there’s not really an easy answer. Destin’s weather in the late fall can be radically different from day to day and year to year.
Historically, the weather in November is a pleasant 70 degrees on average with lows in the evening around 54 degrees on average. In December, it is cooler but still comfortable with an average 63 degree high and a 46 degree average low.
Since this is a beach town nestled along the Gulf of Mexico, the weather may be much warmer or cooler than the historical averages. We always suggest that guests bring clothing that can be layered as it may be quite warm during the day and drop 20 degrees or more in the evening.
But one thing’s for sure, the slightly cooler temperatures make golfing, biking, hiking and exploring our beach communities even more enjoyable. And the water is still warm enough for swimming for those who enjoy playing in the surf while you’re here. Many of our Destin rental beach houses have private pools that can be heated for a nominal fee. Be sure to ask one of our vacation specialists about pool heating when booking your stay.
