Bringing Pets on Vacation to Destin, Florida

If you or your furry friend suffer from separation anxiety, consider including them in your travel plans may be the answer. While traveling with a dog is fairly simple, it does require some planning. If you are traveling with your pet on Destin vacation, here are some things to consider.
If traveling by air, you will need to contact your carrier and confirm rules and regulations for your specific airline.
Whether traveling by air or auto, you'll want to contact your destination accommodation and confirm their pet policy and if you'll need a crate or pet carrier. At Newman Dailey, we have several dog-friendly rentals, but we need to know in advance if you are bringing your pet and there is a non-refundable pet fee. Our rentals also require that your dog be crated when you are not in the condominium or rental home. Pets must be on a leash when outdoors and waste disposal is required by most HOAs.
If you do decide to bring your best friend along, make sure your pet is agreeable to travel and being in a new environment. A high strung dog that barks at every noise is probably not going to enjoy your vacation as much as you will and will frustrate your neighbors.
Be sure to pack your pets normal food, treats, medicines and toys, as this will help them feel more comfortable in a new surroundings.
There are dog-friendly outdoor restaurants, but dogs are NOT allowed on the beach or in pool areas. In case of emergency while on vacation with your dog, our pet friendly staff will be happy to offer names of local veterinarians, etc.
At Newman-Dailey, we understand traveling with your best friend and we want to make it as enjoyable and seamless as possible.
