Top 3 Things to Do in Destin for Labor Day

Sunset after the storm

Labor Day Weekend means it is time to take a break from working and take time to rest. Fortunately, rest and relaxation is our specialty along the beaches of South Walton and Destin, Florida. Here are the top three things to do in Destin for R&R on Labor Day Weekend:

Watch the Sunset

One of our favorite Destin activities is getting a front row seat for the sunset show. In fact, residents and visitors along the Emerald Coast were graced with one of the most spectacular sunsets of the year as Hermine missed the Emerald Coast and provided a glorious sunset instead. Stroll through the Baytowne ArtWalk

Those with an appreciation of art will love the Baytowne ArtWalk, from 5-10 p.m. Friday through Sunday, at the Village of Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin. Local and regional artists display their latest works, while art lovers sip and stroll while enjoying live music from some of our favorite local musicians. On Friday, Kyle LaMonica takes the stage at 5 p.m and Chris Alvarado will perform at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Scott Rockwood will take the stage at 5 p.m. and Sean Dietrich will perform at 7:30 p.m. Then on Sunday, Matt McCarty plays from 5-7 p.m.

Listen to Live Music at a Labor Day Concert

The Emerald Coast community loves live music and there is a variety of Labor Day concerts taking place throughout the weekend.   At HarborWalk Village, there will be a Labor Day concert celebration with live music and fireworks over the Destin Harbor. On Saturday starting at 7 p.m., the Sauce Boss plays the blues with his slide guitar while cooking a large bowl of spicy gumbo. Everyone gets to enjoy the delicious results at the end of the show. On Sunday, The Bayou Saints (a New Orleans rock, jazz and country band) will perform at 7 p.m. and fireworks will light up the Destin Harbor sky at 9 p.m. followed with a fire-spinning performance by Just Add Fire.

Also on Sunday, the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation is presenting Jersey, a live performance by the Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band. The seven-piece band features talented musicians on keyboard, guitar, saxophone, mandolin, and harmonica performing some of the Boss’s most popular hits. Gates open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 7 p.m. Held at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village (next to Home Depot on Commons Dr.). Tickets are $25/pp and children 12 and under are free. Click here for more info or to purchase tickets.
